City Hall: After

This is a follow-up to yesterday's post.

Below is the 2'x3' poster I drew to illustrate the Charter Revision Commission's first proposal for reorganizing the city government (click on the image to enlarge). This was distributed throughout the city several months after the poster in yesterday's post was.

In November 1989, 55 percent of New York City voters approved the commission's final plan, which shifted primary control of contracts, the budget, land use, and franchises to the City Council and the mayor.

In case you're wondering about the lack of traffic on the streets, this is what the city looks like on a holiday weekend. Few residents have seen it this way because their absence makes it possible. It's a paradox of enjoying life in the city.
