In real life, March 4th used to be an important day in U.S. politics.
The first presidential inauguration was scheduled for the first Wednesday of March in 1789. That day was March 4th. Bad weather delayed the event until April 30, but subsequent inaugurations stuck to the March 4th date.
Things changed in 1933 when the Twentieth Amendment moved inauguration day to January 20th. FDR's second term began on that date in 1937, making his first term the shortest one by more than two months.
