Door Found Missing

From issue No. 1 of the Gadzooks Gazette • Jersey Edition • 1983

The only entrance to the 3rd precinct police station in Jersey City was found missing this morning. Local officials seemed perplexed by the development and are calling for an immediate investigation.

Sergeant Peter Gonker made the discovery when he arrived for work just after 7:00 a.m. "I knew there was something wrong," Gonker explained, "the minute my nose smashed against the wall." Gonker was rushed to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was later joined by Detective Joe Martin, Officer Bill Masterson, and Lieutenant Red Woods, whose noses were also damaged in the incident.

"It could only be the work of a sick mind to pull of something like this," Police Commissioner Howard S. M. Burlow told us, "but then, sick minds is my middle name." The commissioner vowed that "it was only a matter of time before we get to the bottom of this." Asked when that might be, Burlow replied, "Just as soon as we can get inside the station house."

The Gadzooks Gazette was a publication I sent out to friends, family, and clients from 1983 to 2004.
