This illustration was one of six I drew for a 1980-something article in Forbes magazine, when the Internet was a new thing.
Compuserve, which seems a very distant memory now, was the first commercial online service in the United States. It was acquired by H&R Block in 1980.
AOL soon dominated the online world, with Prodigy entering the fray as well. It all seems like a zillion years ago, bearing little resemblance to the Internet world of today.
