This plant was part of a small arrangement my wife and I received as a gift on March 17, 1991. It spent a few days on the window sill of a hospital room in Port Chester, New York, before coming home with us, along with our newborn baby. In the subsequent 25 years, both the plant and our daughter have thrived and branched out in wonderful and unexpected ways.
Funny thing is, I still don't know what kind of plant it is. This just in: Several readers have identified it as schefflera, an umbrella tree houseplant.
