Summer Vacation Word Challenge

Orts is going on summer vacation for two weeks, during which time its headquarters will relocate to Florida. New posts will resume on Monday, August 1st. Make sure to check back then!

In the meantime, here's a challenge to keep you occupied.

Can you come up with a perfect 26-word list that meets these requirements:

1. Each word must start with a different letter of the alphabet
2. After the first letter, the other letters must be the exactly same
3. All words must be allowable crossword answers (that means prefixes, two-word entries, slang, partials, proper names, common foreign words, abbrs., etc. are allowed)
4. Further restrict rule #3 as you like to increase the challenge/elegance

For example, here's a list that scores 20:
AON*, BON, CON, DON, EON, GON, HON, ION, JON, KON, LON, MON, NON, OON, RON, SON, TON, VON, WON, YON

OR try for a list that gets the furthest through the alphabet without skipping a letter. How about a list of 4-letter words, or 5-letter words? What kind of 2-letter list can you concoct?
